Great article. In the past the Alberta Wilderness Association identified through A review of government documents that the habitat biologists in the government also recommended against the sale of these types of land.
If this government believes they can get rid of their debt by selling crown land Albertans will lose every acre of publicly accessible land WE own! Also, As a correction Action for Agriculture is not a preservation group they are a agricultural conservation group composed of agriculturalists who’s goal is sustainable, ecologically responsible farming and ranching.

It’s hard to say, because the UCP contradict themselves from one week to the next. Yes, it does seem it was specifically related to parks being reconverted to Crown land. Yet, those were Nixon’s words.

Are you able to provide a source or maybe reasoning to why you think the government intended to never sell any public land again? Given the context of that conversation, I was of the impression they were specifically referring to the sale of the provincial land that was being de-recognized and classified back to ordinary crown land. I don’t think it would be logical to assume they meant any crown land ever again.

Also – just an FYI that in para. 10, Cardston is misspelled as “Cardton”.
