I’ve received messages, Facebook comments, Tweets, YouTube comments, and even comments in person from people who say they appreciate the political content I put out, particularly the content related to harm reduction efforts in Lethbridge.
I don’t mind doing it. I find value and satisfaction in creating such content, as well as satisfaction in seeing how much others value that content.
Of course, this all requires labour. It takes time to comb through data, search for articles, watch videos, create videos, write posts, design graphics, respond to comments, and so on.
Because I have a family, my spouse is in school, I volunteer with community initiatives, and I’m running a business, my time is already pretty tight. Creating this content requires early mornings, late nights, and, if I’m lucky, slow times in client work. I spend dozens of hours every month finding and producing this content.
I believe the content I’m creating and sharing still needs to be put out there, so I’ll keep doing it. But perhaps there is a way that I could keep pushing this content without having to sacrifice more of my time and risk not growing my business.
If you can afford it, please consider showing your support through Patreon or PayPal. As I gain more financial support, I wouldn’t have to spend as much time looking for writing and social media work to pay the bills. I could use the time I spend on client work now for curating and creating the content that thousands of people seem to value.
Your support will also help me write my new book on the labour history of Lethbridge. It will free up my time and help me cover research and production costs.
Thanks for your consideration and, if you decide to, your support. Every little bit helps. And together, we can make a difference.
