{"id":108,"date":"2005-07-28T08:36:17","date_gmt":"2005-07-28T15:36:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.hotpepper.ca\/archives\/2005\/07\/ie7-beta-1\/"},"modified":"2005-07-28T08:36:17","modified_gmt":"2005-07-28T15:36:17","slug":"ie7-beta-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/siever.ca\/kim\/2005\/07\/28\/ie7-beta-1\/","title":{"rendered":"IE7 Beta 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dean, <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/ie\/archive\/2005\/02\/15\/373104.aspx\">the guy responsible for IE7<\/a>, announced <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/ie\/archive\/2005\/07\/27\/444004.aspx\">yesterday<\/a> that Windows Vista (and concurrently IE7) Beta 1 has been released.<\/p>\n<p>After reading the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/downloads\/details.aspx?FamilyId=718E9B3A-64FE-4A4C-9DDF-57AF0472EAD2&amp;displaylang=en\">IE7 Technology Overview<\/a>, I am please to see some of the new features that will be available in the new version of IE.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>tabbed browsing<\/li>\n<li>better user interface<\/li>\n<li>proactive security notifications (for phishing, non-secure sites, etc)<\/li>\n<li>alpha channel PNG support<\/li>\n<li>better CSS support<\/li>\n<li>RSS feed detection, subscription and viewing<\/li>\n<li>built-in, customisable search tool<\/li>\n<li>and so on<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I won&#8217;t be switching from Firefox when it comes out, but it is good to know that IE is being brought to the same level as other browsers now. Hopefully, I&#8217;ll finally be able to design a website and not have to worry about testing it in different browsers.<\/p>\n<p>The Beta 1 has been released to only MSDN subscribers and a small group of pre-selected testers. Beta 2, according to the documentation Dean provided in his post, will be available publicly.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of commentators on Dean&#8217;s post are whining about the decision for Microsoft to go with a private testing for the first beta, but they&#8217;re all blowing smoke. They didn&#8217;t even read the information Dean posted, and got up in arms about something which is really irrelevant. They&#8217;re just a bunch of selfish children.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE: If you don&#8217;t want to take me seriously, at least listen to what <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webstandards.org\/buzz\/archive\/2005_07.html\">Molly<\/a> has to say.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dean, the guy responsible for IE7, announced yesterday that Windows Vista (and concurrently IE7) Beta 1 has been released.
