{"id":2988,"date":"2016-10-12T19:39:52","date_gmt":"2016-10-12T19:39:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/siever.ca\/kim\/?p=2988"},"modified":"2017-08-01T21:26:55","modified_gmt":"2017-08-01T21:26:55","slug":"fall-of-the-mountain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/siever.ca\/kim\/2016\/10\/12\/fall-of-the-mountain\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall of the Mountain"},"content":{"rendered":"<ol class=\"poem\">\n<li>Climbed the mountain one more time, a desert found instead.<\/li>\n<li>Drawing deep from in the well, its water long since dead.<\/li>\n<li>Wand\u2019ring to and running\u00a0fro, for water and for bread,<\/li>\n<li>Starving, thirsty, seeking with a mouth all cracked and bled.<\/li>\n<li>Compass pointing to the north, and south, and east, and west.<\/li>\n<li>Rhombus\u2014once\u00a0a square\u2014appears, askew and quite\u00a0compressed.<\/li>\n<li>Soul and body, once nourished, now nothing to digest<\/li>\n<li>Standing, sitting\u2014kneeling, too\u2014collectively confess.<\/li>\n<li>A grip, a shake, a sign, a name; a swipe across the brow;<\/li>\n<li>A leaf, a cup, an ear, a tree; a drop atop the crown.<\/li>\n<li>Hearken. Yes. A bowing head. Hands up, and then hands down.<\/li>\n<li>Climbing up, and to the core, once smiling, now a frown.<\/li>\n<li>Watching from the valley great the mountain as it falls:<\/li>\n<li>Gold and silver, brass and clay, demolished by a ball.<\/li>\n<li>No warning shout, no sounding trump, no watchmen on the wall.<\/li>\n<li>Like a thief in darkest night, the stealth will shock us all.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Climbed the mountain one more time, a desert found instead.
