{"id":3042,"date":"2017-07-30T11:27:52","date_gmt":"2017-07-30T17:27:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/siever.ca\/kim\/?p=3042"},"modified":"2018-01-16T15:22:40","modified_gmt":"2018-01-16T22:22:40","slug":"four-births","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/siever.ca\/kim\/2017\/07\/30\/four-births\/","title":{"rendered":"Four births"},"content":{"rendered":"<ol class=\"poem\">\n<li>A mother strong had birthed that day the sun, the moon, and stars.<\/li>\n<li>She placed each one upon the sky\u2014the night and day apart.<\/li>\n<li>The waters from within her womb now baptized all the earth<\/li>\n<li>With rivers, oceans, lakes, and streams, all products of that birth.<\/li>\n<li>Another day, the mother bore all seeds of every kind,<\/li>\n<li>Then planted them in soil enriched by water, blood entwined.<\/li>\n<li>Each seed grew up so mighty, strong, warmed by the sun above,<\/li>\n<li>And flowered, fruited, bounty grew, nourished by Mother\u2019s love.<\/li>\n<li>On the third day, from Mother dear, came fin, and wing, and paw.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cIt is good,\u201d our mother said, as she looked out and saw<\/li>\n<li>The measure of creation made, each type and, too, each kind.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cBut even \u2019mong my children here, there\u2019re some I do not find.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>So on day four, she birthed once more, and out came those like her:<\/li>\n<li>Her beauty, strength, persistence, brains, and meekness, courage sure.<\/li>\n<li>Her creation now complete, she drew her children near:<\/li>\n<li>The beasts, the fowl, the fish, the plants, the humans\u2014her whole sphere.<\/li>\n<li>She counselled them, \u201cYou all are one, through birth, and life, and death.<\/li>\n<li>You take, you give, you show respect, in appetite and breath.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>And then she spoke specifically to those who she&#8217;d birthed last.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cBecause you look and act like me, the torch to you I pass.<\/li>\n<li>To you the role of gardener, to nurture and to grow,<\/li>\n<li>To you the role of shepherd, too, each beast and bird to know.<\/li>\n<li>To you the keeper of the sea, to keep it full of life.<\/li>\n<li>To you protector of the sky, the source of breath and light.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Concluding now her court divine, she shared a sacred truth,<\/li>\n<li>\u201cYour death is not the end for you; for yours\u2019 a godly youth.<\/li>\n<li>Just as I planted seed on earth, I planted seed in you,<\/li>\n<li>A seed that grows with trial and curse, and wisdom, pow\u2019r its fruit.<\/li>\n<li>The roots that grow within your heart will reach up toward me.<\/li>\n<li>The branches stretching out in faith, embrace eternity.<\/li>\n<li>Divinity is in your past, your future it entwines,<\/li>\n<li>For you, my children, each of you, is naturally divine.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Listen to me read this poem:<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F336147353&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&visual=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&color=ff5500\"><\/iframe>\n<p>Like my poetry? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patreon.com\/kimsiever\">Send me a pledge on Patreon<\/a> for a little as $1 per month.
