{"id":4654,"date":"2020-04-17T05:20:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-17T11:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/siever.ca\/kim\/?p=4654"},"modified":"2020-04-14T19:29:51","modified_gmt":"2020-04-15T01:29:51","slug":"new-board-announced-for-agriculture-financial-services-corporation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/siever.ca\/kim\/2020\/04\/17\/new-board-announced-for-agriculture-financial-services-corporation\/","title":{"rendered":"New board announced for Agriculture Financial Services Corporation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Earlier this week, the provincial government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alberta.ca\/release.cfm?xID=70090C4CFE9FA-B034-BA41-B4AA16BD3DE6DFE6\">announced new appointments to the board of directors<\/a> for the Agriculture Financial Services Corporation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Mabel Hamilton, board chair \u2013 primary producer, Innisfail<\/li><li>Rodney Bradshaw \u2013 primary producer, Red Deer County<\/li><li>Renata Colic \u2013 finance and investor relations, Calgary<\/li><li>Trevor MacLean \u2013 agriculture business consultant, Okotoks<\/li><li>Chioma Ufodike \u2013 forensic accountant, Calgary<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Already on the board are Gerald Bouma and Kiren Singh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AFSC is a Crown corporation that provides loans, crop insurance,  and disaster assistance to Alberta farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Renata Colic<\/strong> is the chief financial officer of Canoe Financial LP, which <a href=\"https:\/\/efpublic.elections.ab.ca\/efFinancialStatement.cfm?ACID=21723\">donated $5,000<\/a> in 2017 to the <strong>Alberta Advantage Fund<\/strong>, a political action committee which helped fund the formation of the <strong>United Conservative Party<\/strong>, as well as the election of <strong>Jason Kenney<\/strong> as leader of that party. They also <a href=\"https:\/\/efpublic.elections.ab.ca\/efOFSPTPAReport.cfm?ACCOUNTID=1145&amp;PTPAID=38\">donated $20,000<\/a> in 2018 to <strong>Shaping Alberta\u2019s Future<\/strong>, another PAC formed to promote the UCP. The board chair for Canoe Financial is Brett Wilson, who himself has donated over $16,000 to conservative parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chioma Ufodike<\/strong> is the manager of trust safety with the Law Society of Alberta. Her spouse, Akolisa Ufodike, is an assistant professor with MacEwan University, and he <a href=\"https:\/\/efpublic.elections.ab.ca\/efFinancialStatement.cfm?ACID=17210\">donated $1,000<\/a> to <strong>Teresa Woo-Paw<\/strong>\u2019s PC campaign in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trevor MacLean<\/strong> is a senior advisor with MNP\u2019s Agriculture team in Lethbridge. His wife, Susan, <a href=\"https:\/\/efpublic.elections.ab.ca\/efOFSPartyAnnualReport.cfm?EVENTID=10&amp;ACCOUNTID=1472&amp;PARTYID=7\">donated $335<\/a> to the <strong>NDP<\/strong> party in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rodney Bradshaw<\/strong> owns Beck Farms, which specializes in carrot growing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gerald Bouma<\/strong>, also known as Jerry, is a partner with Toma &amp; Bouma Management Consultants. He <a href=\"https:\/\/efpublic.elections.ab.ca\/efFinancialStatement.cfm?ACID=16120\">donated $500<\/a> to <strong>Jim Prentice<\/strong>\u2019s PC leadership campaign in 2014, <a href=\"https:\/\/efpublic.elections.ab.ca\/efFinancialStatement.cfm?ACID=15731\">$375 to the PC party<\/a> in 2014, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/efpublic.elections.ab.ca\/efFinancialStatement.cfm?ACID=17008\">$375 campaign donation<\/a> to the PCs during the 2015 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kiren Singh<\/strong> is a chartered financial analyst and corporate director, most recently with Dynamic Risk Assessment Systems, as their finance and risk committee chair. Gibson Energy, where she was vice president of risk management, as well as treasurer, <a href=\"https:\/\/efpublic.elections.ab.ca\/efFinancialStatement.cfm?ACID=8125\">donated over $12,000<\/a> to the <a href=\"https:\/\/efpublic.elections.ab.ca\/efFinancialStatement.cfm?ACID=15731\">PC party<\/a> during her <a href=\"https:\/\/efpublic.elections.ab.ca\/efFinancialStatement.cfm?ACID=16189\">first 3 years<\/a> there.
